We knew we wanted to stay at a private business, as anything else is operated by the Cuban government... read more (please look up how to keep your tourism money out of their hands) and we took the plunge on Balcones Muralla. Rooms are clean, staff is outrageously friendly, generous, and helpful. We could not have picked a better place to stay. This is the place we will always come back to on our future travels to Cuba as Americans.

Sarai and her mum, Tony and the other staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. We loved having breakfast overlooking the bustling street below every morning, and particularly enjoyed Sarai's mum's delicious omelettes.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to soak up the authentic feel of Old Havana.

We had breakfast included in our stay each morning with the best coffee we had our entire stay and the most delicious Guava jam.

Each room has it's own balcony with chairs, washroom and new ac unit. We felt safe as they only opened the main door for guests.

For us, it was the staff who made this our favourite stop in Havana. Frank and Tony were so friendly and knowledgeable, would love to come back just to chat.

They helped us book restaurant/ private tour reservations, and gave us a ton of great local recommendations. The rooftop bar is such a cool space. We ended most of our nights up there with a fantastic cocktail made by the staff. The breakfast each morning was amazing as well. We already miss our friends at Hostal Balcones Muralla and can’t wait to come back!!! A true five star experience More
