This is the place we will always come back to on our future travels to Cuba as Americans.

We will fall short talking about our stay because we might leave something out so we will sum up our visit to Havana as glorious and our stay at Balcones Murallas as splendid and "counting the days to return". If you want to get a real feel for Cuba, La Havana and its people, you must stay at Balcones Murallas and experience it yourself. This place has everything... location, location, location, cleanliness, decor, attentive staff, good food, and a real taste of the city . The tableware and the mojitos teapots are delightful. Just go there!!! They will arrange everything for you, since arrival until the time that you are reluctantly ready to depart.

One note, if you are travelling to Cuba do not transfer your money at the airport, wait until you arrive in Havana and do it at your hotel or in a restaurant, much better exchange rate.   We stayed at the Hostal Balcones Muralla for 4 nights as a couple and it was our first time in Cuba. Based in old Havana it was the perfect base... read more for going out to explore the city. The staff were very friendly and so helpful, assisting in booking one classic car tour we did, arranging airport pick up as well as giving recommendations for local restaurants and where we could find essentials like SIM cards. They were always around 24/7 to answer our questions or make us a cocktail on the balcony. The room was as described with air-con & a lovely balcony. Unfortunately there was noise from the street in the evenings, but that tended to die down before midnight and we understood it was nothing the hotel could control.
Would recommend to anyone travelling or planning a holiday in Havana to get a real taste of Cuban life. Would happily return and start there again.
